Every woman has the right to make autonomous decisions about her own body and reproductive functions.

Los Angeles, CA- (July 18, 2022) UN WOMEN USA LA, supports the fundamental human right of all women to exercise autonomy over their bodies. Access to comprehensive reproductive care, including the right to an abortion, is an example of a woman’s bodily autonomy.

Women suffer disproportionately from the harm of gender-based violence, including coercive control and tactics designed to strip a person of their personal liberty by controlling intimate details of their lives and their bodies. The Court’s decision to repeal Roe v. Wade replicates coercion on a societal level, reversing years of progress toward gender equality, curtailing women’s autonomy, and endangering their health. We support individuals who will suffer from the Court’s decision as we work together for a future where the rights of all women, everywhere, are universally upheld.

In resilience and resistance,
